1) yes
2) the game isn't about gaining levels. take whatever concept of mmorpg you have and throw it out the window; levels 1-20 is the tutorial, the real game begins after that
3) you can upgrade them, but no, you cannot "refine" equipment
4) nope

Hi there!

1. Yes, the game is still lively in PvE mostly. In PvP the population is much smaller; specially higher end PvP (casual PvP is still populated though, such as Random Arenas or Competitive Missions).

2. Maximum Level is not a goal in this game like in most other RPGs; it can be reached pretty fast. In Guild Wars you do pretty much everything at the same Level, 20. Your goals are to max out titles, complete maps, missions, learn all skills, aquire elite items (appearence changes), etc.

3. Guild Wars is not an 'item game', in that you can have maxed weapons and armors really soon - there is no focus on items as something you need to be powerful. The elite weapons aren't better in battle, they are just better looking, or rare/hard to get and they give some 'status'. That's all.

4. Nope, not true, there are lots of armors to choose from for every profession and you can change any time you want/have materials and money to.

GW is a storyline driven game. each campaign features different stories to play through. also, the game has a "horizontal" character progression instead of a vertical one. instead of getting statistically more powerful, your characters gain new skills as you go through the campaigns, which makes then more adaptable, though not necessarily more powerful.

its nto so much of a "chapter" as much of an extra campaign. True ppl dont play this as much but alot of builds out there require the use of factions skills(SF anyone? ;D).
Also, if you want to start your own guild ppl will either want to be luxon of kurzick. And you can only make that change in factions. So, overall factions is a good buy

Welcome to Guild wars!

Buy factions too. It might have the least good storry out of the 4, but it's worth playing. + It comes with 3 different and fun PvP modes which I, at least, enjoy playing. Also some of the alliance functions comes from factions. Another reason to buy factions is the skills you get, you need some from factions to be really competive, especially in PvP.

It aint what it used to be, but it's still alive. You'll find most of the activity in Eye Of The North (expansion). It's much harder these days to get into PUGs to do quests and missions, because most of the players doing that are just using heroes and henchmen. Most of the PUGs are looking for particular classes/builds to do specific things and/or dungeons and/or "speed clears".

That may depend somewhat on what you want to get out of the game. There is, of course, all the quests and missions and skills to get from the other chapters. But, if you are mostly interested in getting bigger and better loot, well, there really isn't any better loot, just rarer/nicer loot.
You can always get more XP, but after level 20 the XP mostly goes toward skill points to buy skills and consumables.
Btw, you can take the same character through all 3 campaigns - you don't have to always start a new character.

Not in the sense of what you can do in say, WoW, for example. You can put different mods on weapons and armor, but only in the sense of making them more specific to your needs, not to make them "better".

No. One of the things to do in the game is to get better looking armor. There are many armor sets. They all have the same stats, however.

not as much as a few years ago but its not dead yet!

2)i know there is 3 chapters and one add on,i know they individual of each other, but i dont understand,if i finish lets say prophecies, and i get to lvl 20,what the point to begin another chapter if i already have best armor and weapons and i dont get anymore xp...??

GW is less about levels and max armor, the main goal of the game is to complete the story, which each chapter brings. after that the game os more open-ended with various tasks to follow and items to obtain. the other cmpaigns also have different skills, proffesions, areas and items

3)can i refine stuff in this game, armor and weapons to make them better?
initially you will only be able to acquire low end items, eventually at the end you'll probably have max damage weapons/max armor, they can be upgraded with runes or upgrade components to make them more effective

4)i heard that all the armor looks the same until the end of game is that wright?

nope all the armor is unique, with most sets having an elite counterpart that costs more, but looks better (usually)

Just to expand on this ...

You will hit level 20 somewhere around 50%-75% of the way through the first campaign (Prophecies) if you just play normally. If you start in either Factions or Nightfall you will hit level 20 much earlier (around 10-20% of the way through).

However, a character that's just reached level 20, and a character that's completed even 1 of the campaigns (let alone all 3 + EotN) are very very different. Some of the skills later in the campaigns are game-changers, especially some of the elite skills and PvE-only skills.

You have almost no restrictions on reconfiguring your character - you can change how your attributes and skills are allocated at any outpost, and later in the game you'll also be able to change your secondary profession at will. The only real restriction is that you can't change your primary profession, which restricts your primary attribute, your maximum armour rating, and what runes you can put on your armour.

In addition to completing the campaigns there are lots of optional and "elite" areas. Some of these are incredibly hard (unless you're running gimmick builds), but have big rewards. And once one character has completed a campaign, any level 20 character on that account can play that campaign in hard mode. The first time you try hard mode, you'll almost certainly get wiped out.

BTW, characters can travel to the other campaigns (you need to get to the "port city" and go through a fairly quick mission).

And finally, there's the fun of playing different professions. Your primary profession really makes a difference in how you play.

Uh, you should get factions for the sake of completion. It's not that bad of a campaign. Just a bit short, and kinda rushes you into level 20 content.

I happen to love Factions campaign. The skills available there are great; the campaign-specific professions (ritualist and assassin) are great; the Kurzick/Luxon competition is great. You won't regret buying it, believe me.

Many of the complaints about Factions are old ones from the initial release. ArenaNet had listened to the complaints about the first campaign being too slow, so they came out with a fast and dirty one. Of course that meant the other half of the fan base started complaining about how short it was. The result was the third campaign (Nightfall) being a mixture and generating complaints from both sides.
